Kingston Literacy & Skills: Volunteer Opportunities

Receptionist

Our Language Instruction for Newcomers to Canada (LINC) location requires a volunteer to do front-desk reception every Thursday evening from 5:30 to 8:30. This volunteer opportunity is for someone who likes working with people, can work independently and has some experience in an office setting. RAPP—Reading And Parents Program

Volunteers are required to prepare crafts from templates and also photocopy activity sheets and reading hints. This material is then placed in a RAPP pack with a book and delivered to various playgroups throughout Kingston and surrounding area. Locations include Cooke’s, Portsmouth, King’s Court, Bagot Street, Henderson Road, Perth Road Village, Glenburnie and Kingston East. A time commitment of approximately 1.5 hours per week is required. Childcare Volunteer

The childcare program at our Language Instruction for Newcomers to Canada (LINC) location is in need of someone who will read to children, assist with sleep time as well as help with dishes. This volunteer opportunity is available a couple of days each week, from 12:30 p.m. to 2:00 p.m. For more information, please contact Catherine at (613) 547-2255.
